General Description

Make connections quickly and reliably with this breakout board, which brings every pin of its DB15HD connector out to pluggable terminal blocks. This product is available with male or female connectors, and with screw terminals or spring terminals.

This board features removable terminal blocks which can be unplugged and removed from their bases. This provides convenience in several different contexts:

• Terminal rows can be independently populated before being utilized in a larger connection system. This is particularly useful when working with equipment in difficult to reach locations.
• Terminal rows can easily be swapped between equipment.
• Terminal rows can be unplugged quickly and easily for debugging purposes.
• Instead of replacing the entire board, individual terminal rows can be replaced when worn from extended use.

To utilize this board's plug-in feature, simply pull the terminal row away from its base, make the desired connections, and plug the assembled piece back into its base. Terminals can also be populated while still plugged into their base.

This breakout board is perfect for production applications as well as experimentation and prototype work. It is helpful for working with I/O cards, DAQ devices, CNC equipment, and other devices that uses a DB-15HD connector.

Technically, the correct term for a DB15HD connector is DE15, but that term is not commonly used.

Terminal Options

This product is available with two different wire terminal options:

• 
  Spring Terminals (BRKLD15HDx-SG-x): Spring terminals allow connections to be made very quickly and efficiently. Simply depress the actuator button on top of the terminal block, insert or remove the wire, and release the button. Screwless spring connections can offer better results in environments where vibration could potentially loosen standard screw terminal connections.
• Screw Terminals (BRKLD15HDx-SW-x): Each connection is made by turning a screw to tighten the wire in a terminal cage clamp. A screwdriver with a 3.5mm wide blade is a good fit for these screw terminals.

Mounting Options

These products are available in two different mounting variants. Product numbers ending with -DIN come with DIN clips already installed and ready to snap onto 35mm or 32mm DIN rail. Product numbers ending with -FT have stick-on rubber feet installed on the bottom side, allowing for benchtop use or panel mounting. For panel mounting, we suggest 1/4" nylon standoffs under the mounting holes, and #6 screws.
